Hass, Reuben
(30 Mar. 1920 - 21 Feb. 1957)
Reuben Hass
of the town of Colby, died of a heart attack at the age of 36
years, while doing business at the Security State Bank at Colby
Thursday afternoon, Feb, 21, at about 2:30 o’clock. Funeral
services were held Sunday afternoon at the Christ Lutheran church
in Abbotsford. The Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiated and internment
was made in the Colby
Wisconsin Cemetery.
During the
services, which were attended by many friends and relatives of the
deceased, the Misses Dorothy and Marilyn Kieser sang "Asleep in
Jesus," and "Heaven is My Home." Herbert Juneau was
organist.
Pallbearers
were Richard Werth, Reinie Wiersig, Melvin Werth, Harold Werth, La
Verne Weber, Gordon Schiller, all cousins. Members of Christ
Lutheran Church Men’s Club, Abbotsford, served as honorary
bearers.
Those
attending the rites came from Unity, La Crosse, Marshfield,
Spencer, Edgar, Appleton, Sheboygan, Glidden, Wausau, Phillips,
Dorchester, Curtiss, Arpin, Colby, Abbotsford, Fargo, N.D., and
Chicago, Ill.
Mr. Hass was
born in the town of Hull on March 30, 1920, and had been farming in
the town of Colby since his marriage to Winnifred Martens, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Martens, which took place on Oct. 23, 1949,
in the town of Wien.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Larry, age five, and Ronald, age three; his mother, Mrs. Carl Meinke, Unity, Route 1; two brothers, Roland Hass, Abbotsford; and Frank Hass, La Crosse; one sister, Mrs. Elmer (Ella) Rapp, of Marshfield; and a half brother and a half sister, Norman Meinke and Miss Gertrude Meinke, of Unity.
