Carl
Holtzhausen, 78, died at Havenet Nursing Home, Owen, Wisconsin, Thursday
afternoon at 1:30. He had been in ill health about six months and
was a patient there the past six weeks.
Masonic
rites were conducted at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby, Monday
afternoon and burial was made in the Colby cemetery. Members of the
Masonic Lodge were pallbearers and the Colby city council acted as
honorary pallbearers. Mr. Holtzhausen served the city of Colby as
clerk for 33 years, was justice of peace and a member of the
library board.
Mr.
Holtzhausen was born Sheboygan county’s town of Wilson and
came to Colby when he was about two years of age. He continued to
live here the remainder of his life. He operated a blacksmith shop
until ill health forced his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include a son, Alvin Holtzhausen, Abbotsford; two daughters, Miss Erma Holtzhausen, Nashville, Tenn.; Mrs. S. E. (Ethel) Wallace, Madison; two grand children, Shirley and David Holtzhausen, of Abbotsford and one sister, Mrs. Winnie Muehlenberg, of Sheboygan.
