Funeral services for Gus Brocker, 80, who died of a stroke Monday at the Havenet Nursing Home, Owen, weld here this afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Zink Funeral Home. Internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.
The Rev. Richard Harrison, of the Presbyterian
Church, conducted the services.
Mr. Brocker was born July 8, 1876, in Davenport,
Iowa. He was a horse trainer and lover of horses and in his youth
he and a companion traveled by horseback from Wyoming to
Davenport.
On March 12, 1908, he and Miss Mildred Untiedt
were married at Davenport, Iowa. Forty-four years ago, Mr. and Mrs.
Brocker and their first three children moved their entire
belongings by two team-drawn, enclosed wagons and located on a farm
near Owen. When he retired from farming, about 23 years ago, they
came to Abbotsford.
Mr. Brocker had been a patient at the Havenet
Nursing Home since last October. He suffered a stroke and died
there at 2:15 Monday afternoon.
He is survived by his widow, of Tomahawk; four
sons, Walter, Chippewa Falls; Howard, Iron Mountain, Mich.;
Clifford, West Allis; and Norman, Fontana, Calif.; and two
daughters, Miss Bernice Brocker, of New York City, and Mrs. Steve
(Mabel) Sweek, West Allis. All the children, except Norman and
Bernice, attended the funeral.
Also surviving are eight grand children, and one great grand child. There are two brothers, John and Herman Brocker, Davenport; Iowa.
