Strebe,
Marlene Ethel (Marriage - 8 June 1957)
Miss Marlene
Ethel Strebe, Marshfield, became the bride of Lyle Gerald Cathcart,
Abbotsford, son of Charles Cathcart, Sr., Milwaukee, in a marriage
ceremony performed Saturday afternoon at the First Presbyterian
church, Abbotsford. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs.
Clyde Strebe, rt. 3, Marshfield. The groom is the grandson of Mr.
and Mrs. W. C. Lueth, Abbotsford.
Officiating
at the nuptials was the Rev. Douglas P. Oyan of the First
Presbyterian church, Marshfield, and ushering for the rites were
Gerald Strebe, rt. 3, Marshfield, brother of the bride, and Robert
Lueth, Hartford, cousin of the groom.
Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Cathcart Jr., Minneapolis, brother and sister-in-law of the
groom, were the best man and matron of honor. Mrs. Harold Goelden,
Colby, a cousin of the bride, was the bridesmaid, and Allen Strebe,
Athens, the bride’s brother, was groomsman.
Mrs.
Cathcart and Mrs. Goelden were attired in blue, their frocks having
rows of scalloped tulle, ruffles and strapless bodices of lace. The
lace extended into the skirt, which ended with bolero jacket and
wore matching crowns of net and pearls. Their flowers were cascade
arrangements of yellow carnations and stephanotis.
Scallops
outlined the neckline and sleeve edges of the embroidered nylon
tulle gown selected by the bride. The bodice had an insert of
tucked nylon tulle and the overskirt of painted embroidered tulle
had nylon tulle ruffles. The nylon tulle finger-tip veil hung from
a headpiece of lace and pearls. Red roses and white carnations
formed the bride’s cascade bouquet.
A 4:30
o’clock supper was served in the church parlors with the
reception held at the Edgar Lenhard home that evening. Later the
Cathcarts left on a wedding trip, which will take them to
Yellowstone National Park.
The bride, a 1953 graduate of Marshfield high school, also attended Central State College, Stevens Point, for three years, and is now taking a year of internship in medical technology at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield. Her husband, a 1949 graduate of Abbotsford high school, has just completed his sophomore year at Central State College.
