Mierkey,
Carol Marie (Marriage - 12 June 1957)
A
traditional bridal gown of sheer nylon tulle and handclipped
Chantilly lace over lustrous white slipper satin was selected by
Miss Carol Marie Mierkey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Mierkey,
Colby, for her marriage to George A. Schreiber, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Schreiber, Athens.
The Rev.
Bernard Schreiber, Wisconsin Rapids, performed the 9:00
o’clock nuptial rites Wednesday morning at St. Thomas’
Catholic church, Milan.
The molded
bodice of the bride’s gown was fashioned of tulle with lace
appliqué forming the yoke topped by a widespread lace
collar. The lace sleeves tapering to points over the wrists were
secured by satin covered buttons. The bouffant skirt of lace-edged
tiers of tulle ended in a full circular chapel train. The
bride’s finger tip veil fell from a tiara-type headpiece and
she carried red roses and white mums.
Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Schreiber, Athens, brother and sister-in-law of the groom,
were best man and matron of honor. Mrs. Schreiber wore a pink
floor-length gown of nylon tricot chiffon.
Carrying
similar floral arrangements and dressed like the matron of honor
were the three bridesmaids - Mrs. George Tougtes, Chocho, Ill., and
Miss Marcella Mierkey, Colby, both sisters of the bride, and Mrs.
Roman Schreiber, Dorchester, their sister-in-law, all wearing
blue.
Groomsmen
were George Tougtes, Roman Schreiber and Wilmer Schmelzer, the
latter of Colby.
Following the ceremony, breakfast was served in the church hall, which also was the scene of the reception and supper.
