Gisvold, Mary Elizabeth (Marriage - 3 Aug. 1957) 
 

Miss Mary Elizabeth Gisvold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gisvold, Chippewa Falls, became the bride of Frank Nikolay, Abbotsford, Aug. 3. Father Louis Dietrich officiated at the 11:00 o’clock ceremony at Notre Dame Catholic church at Chippewa Falls. 
 

Mr. Nikolay is the son of Mrs. Anna Nikolay of Abbotsford. 
 

Pure silk organza and Italian Alencon lace over contessa taffeta, fashioned the ballerina length bridal gown with a full, bouffant skirt. The long torso bodice was detailed in Alencon lace on a scoop neckline, short sleeves and matching, tapered organza gauntlets. An English Stratford hat held the pure silk illusion veil. She carried an all white bouquet of roses and ivy. 
 

Miss Ruth Janick, a friend of the bride, was the maid of honor, choosing a princess style gown of lime green cotton and silk. She wore a large, white hat with ribbons to match her dress. Her bouquet of white roses and ivy was similar to the bride’s. 
 

The bride’s mother chose an ice blue Dacron dress with blue accessories and she wore a corsage of red roses. The mother of the groom was dressed in pink lace over taffeta, with white accessories. Red roses also comprised her corsage. 
 

Melvin Nikolay of Abbotsford, the groom’s brother, was best man for the wedding. John Duffy of Green Bay and Frank Hickey of Chicago served as ushers. 
 

The Rev. Siegfried Echert accompanied Mrs. Jean Thornton as she sang "Ave Maria," and "On This Day," for the ceremony. 
 

A wedding breakfast was served at the Hotel Northern at 12:00 o’clock to 40 guests. A reception from 2:30 to 4:30 was also held at the Hotel Northern at which time 150 guests greeted the couple. 
 

At the reception, Sari Bennie, Seattle, Wash., a cousin of the bride, presided at the guest book. Jean Mary Reihter, Eau Claire, Mrs. Dennis Helixon, Franklin Park, Ill.; Miss Anne Nikolay, Milwaukee; Mrs. August Helgerson, Chippewa Falls; Mrs. James Nolan, Rochester, Minn.; and Mrs. John Maxwell Moore, Pensacola, Fla., poured at the reception. 
 

For her wedding trip, the new Mrs. Nikolay chose a going away dress of colonial red and white print cotton. 
 

Both Mr. and Mrs. Nikolay are graduates of the University of Wisconsin. She taught at the Wausau high school and he is affiliated with Nikolay, Jensen and Scott Law Firm. They will make their home in Abbotsford. 
 

Guests from away who attended the wedding were from Abbotsford, Seattle, Wash., Pensacola, Fla., Chicago, Stanley, Wausau, Green Bay, Rice Lake, Minneapolis, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Eau Claire, Cornell, and Vesper.
