Billman, Walter (9 Nov. 1879 - 31 Oct.
1957)
Walter Billman, 77, died at St. Joseph’s
hospital, Marshfield, Oct. 31, after suffering a heart attack the
day before. He had been in poor health for some time.
Mr. Billman served the Colby-Abbotsford area for
30 years as distributor for the Marshfield Oil Company. He retired
three years ago.
Surviving him are Mrs. Billman, of Colby; seven
children, Clarence, Plainfield; Andrew and Mrs. William (Clara)
Garbisch, Bell Gardens, Calif.; Wilbur, Burlington; Virgil, East
Troy; Mrs. Milton (Emma) Meske, Curtiss; and Mrs. Arthur (Ruth)
Leichtnam, Abbotsford. There are 21 grand children and 15 great
grand children.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Fred Goeke,
Mrs. Mary Willie and Mrs. Vernon Wolf, all of Marshalltown; and
Mrs. Sadie Vajgrt of Cornell; six brothers, Andrew, Fred, Raymond,
Carroll, Rollie and Floyd, all of Iowa. The brothers served as
pallbearers at the internment at Marshalltown.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and
four children.
After the Masonic rites conducted at Colby, at
2:00 o’clock, Saturday, relatives gathered here at the Art
Leichtnam home. They came from Marshalltown and Grinnell, Ia.;
Curtiss, Chili, Chelsea, Athens, Nekoosa, Madison, Harshaw,
Granton, Marshfield, and Cornell.
On Monday afternoon, services were held at Marshalltown, followed by internment there.
