Paul (16 Dec. 1875 - 3 Dec. 1957)
Rites for
Paul Benzmann, 81, who died Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m., at St.
Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Milan Lutheran church.
Internment will be made in the Milan cemetery. The body is lying in
state at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby.
Mr. Benzmann
was born Dec. 16, 1875, in Pommerania, Germany, and when he was 7
years old, he came with his parents to a farm in the town of
Mayville.
On Sept. 27,
1903, he was married to Miss Martha Pagel, also of the town of
Mayville, at Sturgeon Bay and they made their home in Milan. He
operated a general store there from 1901 to 1936 with Martin
Ellingson and Mike Schrupsky. After his retirement from the store,
the Benzmans continued to live at Milan.
On Sept. 27,
1953, Mr. and Mrs. Benzman celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary at the Milan Lutheran church, of which he was a charter
member.
He is
survived by his widow and one son, Harlo, Mt. Morris, Ill. He was
preceded in death by one son, Ervin, Nov. 24,
1924.

Funeral
services for Paul Benzmann, who died Dec. 3, were held Saturday
afternoon at the Milan Bethlehem Lutheran church and internment was
made in the church cemetery. The Rev. Frederick Kempfert
officiated.
Pall bearers
were Emil Hoeft, Wenzel Zahorka, Chester Buss, John Habeck,
Clarence Venzke, and Reuben Hamann.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were his son, Arlo, Morris, Ill.; Emil Fitzlaff, Chicago; George Bremer, Charles Bremer and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Johnson and family, Summit Lake; Mrs. Lena Woempner, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bobbe, John Daellenbach, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Skoog, Abbotsford; Mrs. Art Lindner and Mrs. Ella Marquardt, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. E. Wilde, Mr. and Mrs. George Blank and Mrs. Amelia Harry, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. George Krueger, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Paul, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Fitzlaff, Little Black, and many friends from Milan.
