Doege, Clara #2 (24 NOV 1876 - 9 APR 1954)

Mrs. Clara Doege passed away Friday morning, April 9, 1954 at 9 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ambrose Keller of Curtiss.  Clara Russell was born on Nov. 24, 1876 at Plymouth, Wis., where she grew to womanhood.

On June 4, 1894 she was married to Herman Doege at Butternut, Wis., and came to thorp to the town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) where she made her home.  To this union was born eight children, four sons and four daughters, Herman of Withee, Reinhold of Eau Claire, Ernest of Thorp, and Edwin whose address is unknown; Mrs. Clara Darge of Thorp, Frieda (Mrs. Ambrose Keller) of Curtiss and Dora (Mrs. Harley Quelle) of Withee.

Her husband preceded her in death June 1932, and one daughter, Alvina (Mrs. Raymond Telford), Feb. 1942.  She leaves to mourn besides her children, seven brothers, three sisters, thirty-three grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren.  In 1942 she sold her farm to her son Ernest and has made her home with her children since that time.  The pallbearers were six grandsons, Herman and Arthur Doege, Bill Darge, Clifford, Doege, Pat Telford and Harold Doege.  Funeral services were held from the Thorp Funeral Home on Monday p.m. and was laid to rest at Thorp’s East Side Cemetery, with Rev. Schedler of Withee officiating.  Three hymns were sung by Mrs. Donald Marshall, Heaven is My Home, Asleep in Jesus, and Beyond the Sunset.

Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mrs. Minnie Goellner of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. John Russell and Mrs. Viola Klein, Waukegan, Ill., Howard Russell, Henry, George and William Russel of Butternut, Alfred Russell, Hurley, Ed Russell, Mercer, Reinhold, Marceline and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Doege of Eau Claire, Mrs. Edna Zimmerman, Glidden, Mrs. Dawn Izewski of Frank Pk., Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ross, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Strassman, Eau Claire, Stewart Masterson, Butternut, and Herman Doege Jr., and Elaine Darge, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Max Siemak and family, Betty and Bob Hodowanic, Gilman, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hodowanic, Boyd, Mrs. Clara Western, Mrs. Maurice Wiles, Mrs. Herman Buss, Mrs. Geo.
