Eldon Shannon, 56, employee of the Taylor County Highway Department for 34 years, died enroute to Medford Hospital Friday afternoon after a county truck loaded with gravel passed over his body, crushing his chest.

The accident occurred about 2 o’clock on County Truck K, south of Nightingale Tavern, where Shannon was at work with a county road crew.
Shannon is survived by his wife, a son, Eldon Jr., Medford; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Frey, Indianapolis, and Patricia, at home; and three grandchildren.
