County News

 

Eidsvold, Wisconsin 

 

Never before in the history of Thorp has there been so much building and repairing going on as at the present time.

 

William Vandusen has built a granary and put a chimney on his house.

 

A. J. Hadley is plastering the interior of his house, putting in some new windows, etc.

 

Jas. Poquett built a chimney lately.

 

M. Eliason built two chimneys recently.

 

Oscar Christianson is siding and otherwise repairing his house.

 

I. McTague has his saloon building nearly ready for occupancy.

 

John Miller, Jr., building a dwelling 16 x 22 feet in size, on his farm.

 

A. Ruscher is putting a wall under his house and also building an addition.

 

Jacob Jacobson is constructing a large new house on his farm.

 

Willie Warner has rented the larger of his two houses and sixty acres of land near Thorp, to John Norton of Thorp village.

 

Mike Denny, living in the southeastern part of town of Thorp, had two cows killed by lightning last Tuesday night.

 

Nils Larvik has sold is farm between this place and Thorp to John Moore of Reseberg.

 

George Bailey, the harness maker, has moved in with Anthur Sayles, where he may be found until he secures a more convenient place.

 

Mrs. Kate Clark and family now occupy the building formerly use by Mr. Bailey as a harness shop.

 

A. W. Peterson has rented a portion of W. E. Powell's building, and occupied the same Monday.

 

Joseph Sayles and wife of Lafargeville, New York, Mrs. N. Soper of Therese, N. Y. and Mrs. Parker of Chicago, were visitors here last week. Mr. Sayles and Mrs. Parker are brother and sister of George Sayles.

 

Born on Friday, October 5, to Martin Elliason and wife, a daughter.

 

Mabel Ruscher is staying with her brother George at Stanley and attending school there.

 

Nellie Canon has returned to her home in South Dakota.

 

Agnes Dagen of Stevens Point, is a visitor at George Eaton's.

 

Mrs. M. Hadlock is dangerously ill with heart  trouble. Dr. Switzer of Stanley is in attendance.

 

Mrs. Emily Dedrick is said to be very low again with dropsy and heart trouble.

 

H. Drake and wife of Minnesota, and Katie Healy of Unity, were visitors at I. P. Drake's last week.

 

During the storm last week, lightning struck the houses of Jas. Jordan and Jeff Miller and the barns of Otto Evenson and Mr. Donahoe. But slight damage was done in either case.

 

A. W. Fear has gone to Montana and A. Roymond and C. W. Robeson to Hurley, Wis., where they will work for a while.
