COLBY, WIS. -- Olivia V. "Libby" Westphal, 84, of
Colby, formerly of the town of Holton, died Wednesday, Oct. 14,
2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Libby's funeral service will be at 1 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in
Abbotsford. The Rev. Gayle Sowell will officiate. Burial will
follow in Abbotsford Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of
services Saturday at the funeral home in
Abbotsford.
Olivia was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Milwaukee, the
daughter of George and Vera (Anderson) Rueden. The family then
moved to the town of Holton, where Libby attended Bruckerville
grade school and later graduated from Dorchester High School. She
married Vernon C. Westphal in Oct. 16, 1943, in Milan. Libby was a
dedicated mother, farmwife and homemaker while they farmed in the
town of Holton. Her husband, Vernon, passed away Dec. 9,
1974.
Olivia was a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran
Church in Milan and a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in
Abbotsford.
Libby always enjoyed a chance to shake dice or
just spend time with her family. She loved to go camping and always
looked forward to going to Rhinelander for the
Hodag.
Olivia is survived by her children, Carol
(Walter) Klimpke of Athens and Beverly (Theodore) Meier of Athens;
her grandchildren, Debra (Mark) Schilling of Athens, Wayne (Lois)
Klimpke of Milan, Audra Klimpke of Athens, Patricia (Todd) Thurs of
Athens and Shannon Meier of Athens. She is further survived by her
great-grandchildren: Stephanie and Trevor Klimpke; Kyle and Katlyn
Schilling; Autumn, Ryan and Sawyer Thurs; and Carson
Kline.
She is also survived by two brothers, George
(Elaine) Rueden of Spencer and Russell (Dorothy) Rueden of
Stetsonville; and a sister-in-law, Esther Rueden; other relatives
and friends.
Libby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; a granddaughter, Pamela Meier; a sister, Marilyn; and a brother, Robert.
