Dearth, Amelia E. (4 May 1916 - 23 Oct. 2009) 
 

OWEN -Amelia E. Dearth, 93, of Owen, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. 
 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Curtiss Alliance Church in Curtiss. Pastor Carl Swarr will officiate. 
 

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Further visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. 
 

She was born May 4, 1916, in Owen to Fred and Katherine (Thormahlen) Matson. She graduated from the eighth grade at Forest Grove School in Owen. She later earned her GED and went to work as an activity director at Havenet Nursing Home in Owen. She married the love of her life, Raymond Dearth, on Aug. 14, 1937, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Raymond went to be with his Lord on Aug. 6, 2001. 
 

Amelia was an active member of the community. She was a member of the Curtiss Alliance Church and helped create the Forest Grove History Book. She especially loved her family and her cats. 
 

She is lovingly survived by her children, Norman (Alma) Dearth of Kenosha and Alice (Vernon) Wenzel of Liberty, Mo. She is the proud grandma of 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Hilda (Elmer) Dearth of Owen, Anna Tanchen of Curtiss and Lillian Matson of Withee; and one brother, Harold (Betty) Matson of Withee. 
 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dearth; a daughter, Helen Mrotek; and her two sisters, Frieda Dearth and Katherine Dearth.
