THORP, WIS. -- Erich J. Kapfer, 58, of Thorp died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, surrounded by his family. 
 

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. Burial followed in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thorp. 
 

Erich Joseph Kapfer was born March 8, 1951, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Erich K. and Marie E. (Stafen) Kapfer. After high school, Erich worked at Stewart's Redville Dairy in Greenwood, and then later at Blue Moon Cheese in Thorp. He was united in marriage to Diane Wilson on May 19, 1973, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. They divorced in 1997. He was most recently employed by Land O' Lakes, in Spencer, where he had been since 1987, and he also farmed and raised Highlander cattle. 
 

He is survived by his children, Erich J. Kapfer III of Thorp, Tanya (Matt) Potocnik of Withee, Tammy (Erik) Stinson of Owen and Kevin (Dominique) Kapfer of Eau Claire; four grandchildren; three sisters, Marianne (Bernard) Mertens of Thorp, Pauline (David) Haas of Thorp and Erika (Darwin) Mason of Stanley.
