Leonard A. Weix, 81, Spencer, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at the Clark County Health Care Unit. A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Christ The King Catholic Church, Spencer . Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Colby. His grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Leonard Albert Weix was born on Sept. 28, 1927, in Colby, to Martin and Mary (nee Tamborino) Weix. He attended Colby’s Sand Hill Rural School. On July 16, 1949, he married Norma Dauufenbach. She preceded him in death in 1995. He served in the United States Air Force during World War ll. He later returned to Wisconsin and was employed as a carpenter at the Boson Company until his retirement in 1994. On Sept. 7, 1996, he married Bonnie Griep at St. Bernard’s Church, Abbotsford.
He enjoyed hunting, trapshooting, woodworking, and jigsaw puzzles. He was a member of the Abbotsford American Legion.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Bonnie Weix, Spencer; children, Judy (Richard) Berger, Spencer, Alan (Martha) Weix, Kirkland, Ill., Rose Ann (Galen) Kulas, Abbotsford, and Doreen Weix, Eau Claire; brothers and sisters. Alphonse (jean) Weix, Medford, Patricia Carpenter, Colby, Erma Kilty, Colby, Laura (Leonard) Riese, Colby, Mary Ellen (Norbert) Dittner, Marshfield, Leo (Marilyn) Weix, Abbotsford, and Rita (Donald) Schnabel, Abbotsford; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He will truly be missed. Preceding him in death were his parents, Martin and Mary Weix; his wife, Norma; two brothers, Henry Weix and Paul Weix; a sister, Mary Ann Weis.
