Alice A. Rhode, 81, Eau Claire, formerly of Greenwood, died at the Syverson Lutheran Home, Eau Claire, on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Rhode, Dick Rhode, Gil Rhode Jr., Tom Pfremmer and Todd Rhode.
Alice Agnes Rhode was born on Dec. 2, 1927, in the town of Eaton, rural Greenwood, to Edward and Agnes (nee Wehling) Rhode. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Eaton Center State graded School, Spencer and Marshfield. She lived on the farm with her parents and helped take care and raise her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. After her parents died, she made her home with her brother, Gilbert, and his wife, Lucille, until their passing in 1999 and 2007, respectively.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. She had many interests, but especially loved children, dominoes, puzzles, crafts and latch hook. She was a faithful and cheerful servant.
She will be dearly missed by one sister, Velma (John) Nibbe, Madison; her nephews, Gary (Helen) Rhode, Richard (Marjorie) Rhode, Alan (Peggy) Rhode, and Gil Jr. (Bonnie) Rhode; her nieces, LeAnn (Tom) Pfremmer, Jana (Eric) Hagan, and Pamela Nibbe; several great-nieces and great-nephews, and numerous great-great-nieces and gtreat-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and one brother, Gilbert Rhode.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
