Betty L. Rueth, 79, Loyal, died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 10, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil officiated. Burial followed at St Anthony's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darrell Courtney, Kevin Courtney, Dena Paulson, Dr. Natasha Rueth, Shawn Rueth and Chad Rueth.
Betty Lou Matthews was born on March 7, 1930, in Humbird, to Isaac and Phyllis (nee Wincentsen) Matthews. She was raised and received her education in Humbird until 1943, at which time her family moved to Loyal. After completing her education, she married Leonard Rueth on May 29, 1948, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. She was a homemaker and farmwife, and raised her six children on their farm. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a very active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and its PCCW, a member of the Red Hat Society, a member of the Loyal Senior Citizens and was a former member of the Clark County Homemakers. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, baking, sewing, crossword puzzles, playing cards and cribbage.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Leonard, Loyal; six children, Diane Courtney (Bill Neville), Neillsville, Andy Rueth, Neillsville, Debbie (Mike Caarew, Green Bay, Jeff (Tamara) Rueth, Spring, Texas, Tim (Jodi) Rueth, Neiilllsvillle, and Rebecca (David) Scherer, Loyal' 12 grandchildren, Darrell (Penny); Kevin (Marcy); Natasha; Shawn; Dena; Chad; Jessica;Kelsey; Krista; Karter; Brody and Leah; seven great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Morgan, Rylee, Claire, Matthew, Johnathan and Ian; noeces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter-in-law, Tracey Rueth; one brother, Roger Matthews; and one sister, Irene Richmond.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
