Kapfer, Erich  (08 MAR 1951-20 OCT 2009)

Erich J. Kapfer, 58, Thorp, died on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at his home. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery, Thorp. Pallbearers were Vincent Scorsone, Erik Stinson, Matt Potocnik, Bob Mohr, Dave Schmitt and Tom Glenn.

Erich Joseph Kapfer was born on March 8, 1951, in Chippewa Falls, to Erich K. and Marie (nee Stafen) Kapfer. He was raised on the family farm, and graduated from the Thorp High School in 1969. He worked at Stewart’s Redville Dairy, Greenwood and Blue Moon Cheese, Thorp. He married Diane Wilson on May 19, 1973, and they divorced in 1997. He most recently was employed by Land O’Lakes, Spencer, and also raised Highlander cattle. He enjoyed fishing in northern Minnesota.

Survivors include his children, Erich J. Kapfer 111, Thorp, Tanya (Matt) Potocnik, Withee, Tammy (Erik) Stinson, Owen, ands Kevin (Dominique) Kapfer, Eau Claire; four grandchildren; and three sisters, Marianne (Bernard) Mertens, Thorp, Pauline (David) Haas, Thorp, and Erika (Darwin) Mason, Stanley.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and one son, Erich J. Kapfer 11, in infancy.
