Hemp, Albert (14 March 1867 - 30 January
1953)
Albert Hemp, 86, of 420 West Street, died at his
home January 30, 1953, following an illness of about 30
days.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday,
February 2, from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church. The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral Home until it
was taken to the church. The Rev. Alfred Schewe officiated, with
interment in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr.
Hemp was born in Germany March 14, 1867, to Ludwick and Augusta
(Scheel) Hemp. He came to this country with his family at the
age of four years. They settled on a farm in Jefferson County
over 75 years ago. They located on a farm in Glove.
They moved to Neillsville in 1925.
Mr.
Hemp was a member of St. John’s Lutheran
Church.
On
June 6, 1892, he was married to Anna Dudei at Globe. Six
children were born to them. Mr. and Mrs. Hemp celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary and had observed their
60th wedding anniversary.
He
is survived by his wife and the following children - Mrs. William
(Mayme) Hoffman of Chicago; Erwin Hemp and Herman Hemp of
Neillsville; Richard Hemp of Mosinee; six grandchildren, one
sister, Mrs. Gust (Anna) Grap, Milwaukee, and one brother, Frank
Hemp, Wisconsin Rapids.
One son, Bernard, five brothers - Otto, Tony, Ernest, Fred and Adolph, and one sister, Mrs. August (Louise) Wegner, preceded him in death.
