McCoy, Mrs. R.S. (Fatal Auto Accident-Sept 11, 1910)
Sunday afternoon Mrs. R.S. McCoy, wife of Judge McCoy of Sparta, was killed when a touring car in which she was riding skidded from the bank and plunged into the La Crosse River near West Salem. Dr. Beebe, also a passenger in the car, was dangerously injured. The machine turned over twice and landed bottom up in the river. The body of Mrs. McCoy was taken from under the machine in three feet of water.
Mrs. McCoy is quite well known here in military circles, being the wife of Col. McCoy, and a frequent visitor at Camp Douglass a few years ago. Mrs. Blakeslee, also well known here, is the wife of Dr. Beebe, but she was not injured in the accident.
