Babcock, Darick G. (May 25, 1827-Oct 1, 1910)
Darick G. Babcock, an old settler of Clark County, passed away last Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E.P. Waterman, in town of Washburn. Mr. Babcock was born in Scot Courtland County, New York, May 25, 1827. He came to Clark County in 1869 and settled in town of Levis, where he resided until about eight years ago, when he went to make his home with his daughter. His wife, Susan Babcock, died 11 years ago last Jan. 11th. Mr. Babcock is survived by his sons, D.C., Hance, and daughters, Mrs. Foley, Mrs. E.P. Waterman and Mrs. Jim Finnegan. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at the Cannonville school house, Rev. Burrows officiating, and interment was made in the Levis Cemetery.
Mr. Babcock was a fine old gentleman and his friends throughout this section were grieved to hear of his death, as he had only been sick five days. He was a hardworking pioneer, industrious and painstaking and leaves after him a pleasant memory to those who knew him intimately through the long years of his residence in this county.
