Hubbard, Lucina (April 27, 1825-Jan 25, 1911)

Mrs. Lucina Hubbard died Jan. 25th, at the home of her son, R.F., at Hayward, aged 85 years, 8 months and 29 days.  She was born in New York state and was married there to L.K. Hubbard.  Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard removed to Pennsylvania shortly after their marriage and in 1864 came to Neillsville, where they became pioneers of the county.  For a few years they operated the Hubbard House, on what is now the site of the present Merchants Hotel.  In 1867 Mr. Hubbard died.  Mrs. Hubbard has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Bert Cornwell, at Helena, Mont., for the past 29 years, but last April came back to Wisconsin to visit her son in Hayward, and there her demise occurred.  She was the mother of seven children, and is survived by her sons, Ed Hubbard of this city, and R.F. Hubbard of Hayward, and daughters Mrs. Bert Cornwell of Helena, Mont., and Mrs. J.E. Smith of Los Angeles, Cal.  As Mr. Hubbard was buried here, the remains were brought to this city for burial, the funeral taking place Sunday afternoon.  Services were held at the Congregational Church, Rev. Risser officiating.

Mrs. Hubbard was well known to the early settlers of this county as a lady of exceptional attainments and pleasing personality.  From childhood she has been a devout Christian, having been a member of the Methodist Church all her life.
