Humke, Adeline #2 (29 January 1880 - 29 March
1953)
Mrs. Theodore Humke, 73, a resident of Greenwood
for 50 years, died Sunday night at St. Joseph’s Hospital
where she had been a patient since January 21. Her
death was attributed to gangrene.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2,
at 2 p.m. at the West Side Evangelical and Reformed Church.
The Rev. Charles Koch will officiate. Burial will be in the
West Side Cemetery.
Mrs. Humke, the former Adeline Fischer, was born
January 29, 1880, at La Crosse, where she was married to Theodore
Humke, March 31, 1903. Since their marriage they resided on a
farm northwest of Greenwood.
She
was a charter member of the West Side Ladies Aid.
Besides her husband she is survived by the
following seven children - Mrs. P. H. (Esther) Franzmeier of New
Albin, Ia.; Mrs. Francis (Irene) Schweinler of Mosinee; Mrs. Fred
(Rose) Timmler of Greenwood; Mrs. Louis (Cora) Slock of Eau Claire;
Mrs. Willard (Vera) Stafford of Milwaukee; Harold Humke of Nekoosa
and Everett Humke of La Crosse; one sister, Mrs. Jake Steiger of La
Crosse and 14 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irma, and one son, Lt. Herbert Humke who was killed in action in World War II; also by one brother.
