Grow, Lillian Agnes (1860-April 12, 1911) 
 

Mrs. L.A. Grow died at Butte, Mont., on April 12^th.  The remains were brought here for interment and the funeral was held Monday afternoon. 
 

Mrs. Grow was born Lillian Agnes Wicker at Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1860 and in 1872 came with her parents to Colby.  She was married to Charles Grow on May 9, 1878 and in 1882 Mr. and Mrs. Grow became residents of Neillsville.  Mrs. Grow was the mother of three children, George, Grace and Harold.  During her residence here Mrs. Grow was identified with the social and musical life of the city very prominently, as she had unusual vocal and instrumental ability.  She was a lady of pleasing personality, charitable disposition and inherent kindness, and she had a large circle of very sincere friends here.  Of late years, Mrs. Grow had made her home in the west and the following clipping from the Anaconda, Mont., Standard, gives the particulars of her death: 
 

Mrs. Lillian Grow, aged 51 years, a nurse of Butte, died of heart disease at her apartments in the Mantle block at 10:30 o’clock yesterday morning.  She had been in good health and had made all her preparations to go to work at the Newbro Drug Company’s yesterday afternoon.

About 11 o’clock Mrs. Higginson of Great Falls, who had a room there, went into the bathroom and noticed Mrs. Grow lying on the floor.  She immediately called Mrs. Hanson, the proprietress of the rooming house, and they summoned Dr. Phoebe Ferris, who said at once that she was dead.  An examination showed that heart failure was the cause of death. 
 

"Mrs. Grow was one of the jolliest and best-natured persons you ever met," said Mrs. Hanson last night, "and she was apparently in good spirits.  Sometimes she had fainting spells, due, I thought, to the altitude." 
 

Coroner Stevens decided that no inquest was necessary.  He had the body removed to Sherman & Reed’s. 
 

Mrs. Grow’s husband, Chas. Grow, and a daughter, both died in Wisconsin.  Her son, Harold Grow, lives at Neillsville, Wis.  He was married last year and came here to visit his mother.  The body will be shipped to Wisconsin by the Oregon Short Line at 6 o’clock tonight. 
 

Mrs. Grow acted as a professional nurse at Alhambra Hot Springs and later at Pipestone Springs.  She had about completed arrangements to establish both parlors of her own in Butte. 
 

Mrs. Grow was buried Monday afternoon in the Grow family lot in the Neillsville Cemetery.  Brief services were conducted by Rev. Burrows at the house of her son, Hal.  Mrs. Grow is survived by her son, Hal, her mother and brothers, Ernest and Howard of Colby, and sister, Mrs. J.C. Enright of St. Paul.  Mrs. Wicker, Ernest and Howard Wicker, Miss Adelia Enright of St. Paul and Chas. Taylor of Barron were here for the funeral.
