Elger, John (9 March 1874 - 6 April 1953) 
 

John Elger, 79, of Humbird, died April 6, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, of old age complications. 
 

Funeral services in charge of the Bergemann Funeral Home were conducted Thursday, April 9, at the Methodist Church in Humbird, with the Rev. Richard Brooks officiating.  Burial was in the Town of Mentor Cemetery.  
 

Mr. Elger was born March 9, 1874 at Fall Creek, Wis.  He received his education in Fall Creek and later lived in the Humbird area, where he did carpenter work most of his life.  He was married to Ellen Comstock, who died in 1906, and later was married to Minnie Gregory, who preceded him in death in 1929.  
 

Survivors are the following: Charles Elger, Pringle, S. D.; Paul Elger of Humbird; Mrs. Tracy (Martha) Cummings and Miss Minola Elger, both of Kenosha.  He also leaves seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Art Christenson of Onamia, Minn., also survives.  One brother and two sisters are deceased. 
 

Pallbearers were: Archie Fradenburg, Max Schank, Lowell Shatswell, Archie Sparks, Paul Zerbel and Earl Zimmerman. 
 

Hymns sung were "Abide With Me" and Rock of Ages."  Vocalists were Mrs. Gordon Gearing and Mrs. Steve Figura, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Smith at the piano. 
 

Out of town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Cummings and Miss Minola Elger, Kenosha; and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zimmerman of Neillsville.
