Jahr, Albert J. (5 September 1887 - 8 April
1953)
Albert J. Jahr, 65, of 201 Oak Street,
Neillsville, died Wednesday, April 8, at St. Mary’s Hospital
in Rochester, Minn., where he had been a patient since March 13 of
this year. He had been in ill health for one
year.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, at
the Georgas Funeral Home with R. S. Knutsen, first reader of the
First Church of Christ Scientist, reading the service. Burial
was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr.
Jahr was born September 5, 1887, to Bernard and Augusta (Drescher)
Jahr and had been a lifelong resident of Clark County.
He
received his education in the rural schools of the county and at
the Neillsville Business College. He worked for a few years
in the Big Store and then went into business with his brother in
Granton. They operated a store there for a few years and upon
his return to Neillsville he again went to work at the Farmers
Store (Big Store) in whose employ he was when taken ill. He
worked in that store for 33 years.
Mr.
Jahr was married to Helen Hemp November 27, 1915, at Eau
Claire. No children were born to them.
Surviving him besides his wife are three brothers
- Frank, Neillsville, Edwin, Granton, Wesley, of Oxford, and one
sister Mrs. Clara Reichert of La Crosse.
One
brother, Oscar and one sister, Lena, Mrs. Charles Steuerwald,
preceded him in death.
Honorary pallbearers were: Francis Guest, Robert
Wagner, George Prochazka, John Trogner, Sam Ray, Ronald Wallace,
Gerald Hart and Joe Zimmerman.
Pallbearers were: Eldred Reichert, K. William
Hemp, Harley Seif, Wesley Jahr, Warren Hemp and Linton
Jahr.
Flowers were in charge of: Miss Sylvia Jahr,
Marion Jahr, Ellen Eide and Mrs. Al Sollberger. Helen Smith
sang, accompanied by Mrs. Dorothy Nulton.
Out of Town persons attending the rites were: Mrs. Clara Reichert and Eldred, La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Jahr and Cynthia, (balance of article was cut off).
