Toburen, William (22 January 1881 - 25 April
1953)
William Henry Toburen, 72, of Greenwood died
suddenly of a heart attack Saturday, April 25, at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, where he was taken earlier Saturday
morning.
Funeral services were held April 28, at the West
Side Church. The Rev. Charles Koch officiated. Burial was in
the West Side Cemetery.
Mr.
Toburen was born January 22, 1881, at Cincinnati. When one year old
he came with his parents, William and Minnie Toburen, to a
farm near Greenwood.
On
June 3, 1908, he was married to Anna Schmidt at Alma. They
settled on a farm six miles northwest of here, where they lived
until 1945, when they moved to this city. Mr. Toburen was
employed at the Stewart Cheese Corp. for some time. He was a
member of the school board and had also served on the town board of
Mead township. He was a member of the West Side E & R
Church.
He
is survived by his wife and four children - Mrs. Fred (Ruth)
Robbins of Minneapolis; Ervin and Delmar Toburen of Greenwood; and
Mrs. John (Delores) Goger of Chicago; also eight grandchildren, two
sisters, Mrs. Nels (Louise) Fulsang of Chicago, and Mrs. Arthur
(Amelia) Syth of Greenwood; and one brother, Gust Toburen of
Wausau.
Two sisters preceded him in death.
