Stabnow, August F (28 August 1868 - 15 May
1953)
August F. Stabnow, 84, died Friday, May 15, at
the Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, where he had been a surgical
patient.
Mr.
Stabnow, a resident of Greenwood for 54 years, was born
August 28, 1868, in North Freedom, Wis. His marriage to
Rachel Ward took place July 11, 1898, in Cooperstown, N. D.
They moved to a farm six miles northeast of Greenwood. In
November 1944, they moved to this city, where they have since
resided.
He
is survived by his wife, one son, Leroy E. Stabnow of Mellen, and
two daughters, Mrs. Vern (Luella) Severson of Greenwood and Mrs.
Vaner (Anna) Lindgren of Owen, who is in a sanitarium at Eau
Claire; also 19 grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by two daughters, Ethel in 1911 and Mrs.
William (Bessie) Rohloff in 1932.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 18, at the
Rural Mission’s Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Willis
Johnson of Greenwood, the Rev. Summers of Merrillan and the Rev.
Lawrence Oman of Chippewa Falls officiated. Burial was in the
Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harry Richardson, Merrill Dunn,
Leo Bredesen, Dave Danielson, Walter Acker and Warren
Worden.
