Smasal, Kilian (31 MAY 1870 - 5 AUG 1954)
Kilian Smasal, 84, a resident of the Town of Edson (Chippewa Co., Wis.), died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1954, at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Smasal was born in St. Kilian, Wis., May 31, 1870, and he moved to the Stanley area in 1892. On April 5, 1893, he married Barbara Soeller in Ashford and they observed their 60th wedding anniversary two years ago. They settled on a farm in the town of Edson. Mr. Smasal also worked for the Northwester Lumber Mills for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife, eight children, Oscar of Milwaukee; Leo of Port Angeles, Wash.; Arthur of Withee; Mrs. C. S. Jacobson, Oconomowoc; George of Stanley; Mrs. W. O. Wrolstad, Milwaukee; Mrs. Hoard Rickford, Stanley; Sylvester of Stanley; 29 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, George of Milwaukee; and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Kearns of Kewaskum.
Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Rev. Edmund Kramer officiating. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
