Samuelson, Andrew (25 SEP 1862 - 31 AUG 1954)

 

Andrew Samuelson, pioneer resident of the Stanley country since 1885 died at the Mondovi Lutheran Rest Home for the aged, Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1954, after a brief illness.  He had reached the age of 91 years, 11 months and 6 days.

 

Andrew Samuelson was born on Sept. 25, 1862, in Foldalen, Norway, the son of Samuel Olson and Anne Dalslaen.

 

In 1882 he emigrated from Norway to the United States, where he found employment with the Stevens Heading Co. of Wilson, Wis.  He came to the Stanley country in 1885 and purchased a piece of wooded land in the Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.), which he developed into a dairy farm.  Here he resided until April of this year.

 

In addition to his interest in his farm and family he has been active over a period of years in church and community acidities.

 

In 1910 he was united in marriage at Eau Claire, Wis., to Mrs. Anne Erickson, who preceded him in death in 1937.

 

He is survived by two sons, Arthur and Thorvald Erickson of the Stanley country; five grandchildren, Sandra, Elaine and Dean Samuelson and David and James Erickson.  Also three great-grandchildren, Ellen, Dennis and James Richard Erickson.

 

Two brothers, Sam and Ole, preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. J. N. Midtlien officiating.  Interment in East Side Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Alvin Peterson, Neal Shorey, Lawrence Thompson, Arthur Heian, Leonard Larson and Elmer Anderson.
