Packer, B.G. (Appointment - April 29,
1911)
B.
G. Packer was notified last Saturday that he was appointed
Commissioner of Immigration of the state of Wisconsin. Mr.
Packer has been in touch with the movements at Madison for some
time, and has been called there several times to speak on the
Advancement of Northern Wisconsin, and has always made a hit as a
progressive worker for this state. Mr. Packer’s work
will be to prepare exhibits for land shows in this state and for
shows held in other states where Wisconsin is to be
represented. He will also be called upon to speak of the
advantages of Wisconsin at these land shows, and be a general
worker for the Badger state.
We
are sorry to lose Ben from our midst for he was a hustler for this
community all the time, but we are glad to hear that he has a much
wider field to work in, and his many friends here wish him success
in his new position.
Mr. Packer went to Madison Tuesday morning where he began work at once. Mrs. Packer will remain in this village for a short time when she will join her husband and they will make that city their future home. - Withee Sentinel
