Johnson, Ole (March 31, 1844 - May 3,
1911)
Ole
Johnson was born in Norway on March 31, 1844, and died at his home
on East 6th Street Wednesday afternoon, May
3rd. He had been sick but a very short time and
the news of his death came as a great surprise to his
friends. Mr. Johnson had been a resident of this city for
many years, being one of the city’s oldest residents. A
number of years ago he was employed at the O’Neill house,
later keeping a small hotel himself. He was at all times
industrious, frugal and painstaking and his quiet demeanor and
courtesy made many friends for him in this city. He had been
twice married, both of which helpmates preceded him in death.
He was the father of nine children, seven of whom are living.
They are Hans, Albert, John, Tillie, Anna, Aletta, Ole, all living
at home with the exception of Albert of Fresno, Cal., and John of
Olean, N.Y. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the
Congregational Church and was held under the auspices of his lodge,
the Modern Woodmen.
