French, Sarah Abigail Seavey (March 6, 1829 - May
6, 1911)
Sarah Abigail Seavey was born in Farmington,
N.H., on March 6, 1829. She was united in marriage to Henry
D. French on April 11, 1854, and they came directly to Monticello,
Wis. In 1871 they came to Clark County and settled on a farm
south of this city, where they made their home until about four
years ago when feeble health compelled Mrs. French to leave the
farm and she came to this city and has since resided with her
daughter, Mrs. Carl Stange. She died last Saturday
afternoon.
Mrs. French was the mother of four children, all
of whom, with their father, survive her. The children are
Mrs. Mary Jurney of New Richmond, Rinaldo L. French of the home
farm, Albert French of La Crosse and Mrs. Carl
Stange.
Mrs. French was widely known in this vicinity
because of her long residence here and she won to herself a large
circle of dear friends by her womanly characteristics and
charitable inclinations. She was at all times pleasant in
demeanor and Christian in her treatment of
associates.
The
funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Burrows officiating and
interment was made in the Neillsville Cemetery.
Albert French and wife were here to attend the funeral.
