Johnson, Amanda Elsie (8 April 1882 - 19 September 1953)  
 

Funeral services for Mrs. P. M. Johnson, 71, lifelong resident of Greenwood, were held Wednesday, September 23, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Magnus Egge officiated.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Johnson, nee Amanda Elsie Johnson, who was born in the Town of Warner, April 8, 1882, died in her sleep Saturday night, September 19, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Verhulst.  She became ill a week ago and had been at the Verhulst home since then. 
 

She was married December 31, 1902, at Greenwood to Peter M. Johnson.  After their marriage they moved to a farm northeast of Greenwood, where they lived for 42 years.  Eleven years ago the Johnsons built a home in Greenwood, where she had resided ever since.  Mr. Johnson died March 7, 1948. 
 

Mrs. Johnson, who was a member of Our Saviour’s church, is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Esther) Verhulst of Greenwood; Mrs. Harold (Grace) Haupt of Loyal; Mrs. Lester (Joyce) Luther of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, Mrs. David (Selma) Gustofson of Chicago, Mrs. Josie Hubble of Greenwood, Mrs. Sigrud (Olga) Johnson of Loyal, and Leonard Johnson of Greenwood. 
 

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three infant sons, two sisters and one brother.
