Rakovec, Antonia (13 June 1882 - 11 October
1953)
Mrs. Antonia Rakovec, 71, died Sunday, October
11, at 11:15 a.m. at her home on Greenwood, R #3. She had
been ill since spring with a heart ailment. Her death was
attributed to pneumonia.
Requiem high mass will be held Thursday, October
15, at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.
Rosaries will be held Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the Rakovec
home. Burial will be made in the Holy Family
Cemetery.
MRs. Rakovec, the former Antonia Zorko, was born
in Yugoslavia, June 13, 1882. She came to the United States
in 1904. The following year she was married to Joseph Rakovec
in Pennsylvania. He died October 16, 1943. Several years
after their marriage they returned to Europe and after five years
there she returned here in 1914, coming directly to
Greenwood. She had resided for 39 years on their farm five
miles southwest of here.
She
was the president of Mary’s Help K. S. K. J. and secretary
and treasurer of the Altar Society of Holy Family
Church.
She
is survived by five sons: Joe of Marshfield; Richard of Chicago;
Frank and John of Loyal; Cyril at home; and one daughter, Mrs.
Frank (Mary) Pekol of Neillsville; also 18
grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by one son Tony, who died in infancy.
