Hill, Anna (24 May 1883 - 3 November
1953)
Mrs. V. J. (Anna Kalkofen) Hill, 70, died
November 3, at a Chippewa Falls hospital, to which she was removed
after being suddenly ill at her home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 7, from
St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alfred Schewe, Pastor
officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
Mrs. Hill was born May 24, 1883, at Antigo, to
Phillip and Elizabeth (Sensenbrenner) Schweitzer. She
received her schooling in the Antigo rural schools and was married
to Herman Kalkofen at Antigo November 12, 1903.
Following their marriage they moved to Clark County, where they
operated a cheese factory at Eaton Center until the death of Mr.
Kalkofen on May 30, 1935. In 1941, she moved to Neillsville
and in 1942 was married to V. J. Hill on September 17, 1942.
The past five years she has resided in Chippewa
Falls.
Surviving her are her husband, three daughters,
Mrs. Ernest (Christine) Christie, La Crosse, Mrs. Eugene (Eva)
Christie, Neillsville, and Mrs. Irvin (Lila) Thoma, Wisconsin
Rapids; two sons, Orville, Aiken, S. C., and Lester, HMC, U. S.
Navy, Portsmouth, N. H. Three step-children, Alice, Mrs.
Clarence Junneman of Chippewa Falls, Herbert Hill, Seattle, Wash.,
and Eugene Hill, Bloomer, two sisters: Mrs. Antonett Boettcher,
Antigo, and Mrs. Fred Kalkofen, also of Antigo, one brother, Fred
Schweitzer, and a half-brother, Julius Winnega of Two Rivers, and
10 grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were: William Kalkofen, Fred
Kalkofen, Phillip Schweitzer, George Schweitzer, Roy Boettcher and
August Meisenhelder. Flowers were carried by Mrs. Larry
DeLong, Mrs. William Kalkofen, Mrs. Nathan Voltz, and Mrs. Fred
Higgins.
