Belter, George Otto (7 May 1896 - 2 December 1953) 
 

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 26, for George Otto Belter, who is thought to have died about December 2 in his ranch home at Littleton, Colo.  His body was not found until December 20. 
 

Services were from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Koehler officiating.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mr. Belter was born May 7, 1896 to Julius and Anna (Hoffman) Belter in the Town of Weston.  He attended the rural schools of Weston and worked as a farm hand until 1917, when he enlisted in the army during World War I.  After his discharge he returned to Neillsville, where he remained for a while before entering the Veterans Hospital at Denver, Colo.  He stayed there from 1920 to 1929.  Following his discharge he remained there as a caretaker, a job he held until 1943.  In 1947 he purchased a wheat ranch, on which he made his home.  He never married. 
 

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. John (Emma) Roehl, Clinton, and Mrs. Walter (Elsie) Doering, Clinton; Mrs. Olney (Helen) Qualle, Madison; and Mrs. Arnold (Ruth) Ebert, Neillsville; and three brothers: Gustave, Eau Claire, William, Neillsville and Herman of Granton.  
 

Military rites were held at the grave by the Haugen-Richmond Post, No. 73, of the American Legion, with Ed Zschernitz, Gust Carl, Herman Moen, Ernest Karnitz, Leon Stanley, P. C. Ludovic, Donald Schiesel and Joe Cardarelle taking part; DeWayne Dux played taps. 
 

Pallbearers were: Alvin Meihak, Ollie Linster, T. C. Schlinkert, Thone Karnitz, William Lueck and Emil Dux. 
 

Out of town persons attending were: Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Qualle, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Gust Belter, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Doering and Mr. and Mrs. John Roehl, Clinton; and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Belter, Granton.
