LOYAL -- Marie E. Hinkelmann, 84, of Loyal received her wings Nov. 8 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Marie had been a resident at the Golden LivingCenter-Three Oaks in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman will officiate and burial will follow in Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal, and Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Marie Elsie Diercks was born Oct. 3, 1925, in the town of York, rural Clark County, to William and Clara (Zickert) Diercks and attended area schools. She was united in marriage to Herbert Hinkelmann on Oct. 21, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. They farmed in Loyal for many years until selling the farm to their son, Harlan, in 1983. Marie and Herbert had a true partnership on the farm as they raised their five children and farmed. "Family" meant everything to them and was their first consideration in all they did.

In her spare time, Marie loved to bake, garden, can, quilt and embroider. She was an active member of her church, Trinity Lutheran, being involved in adult fellowship, the quilting circle and teaching Sunday School for many, many years. She was also a member of the Trim 'n Tidy Homemakers Club.

Marie is survived by her five children, Carol (Steven) Allar of Hewitt, Nancy (Tom) Purcell of Spokane, Wash., Karen (Dave) Bloom of Loyal, Brenda (Bill) Wilcox of Madison and Harlan (Missy) Hinkelmann of Loyal; nine grandchildren, Brad (Kimberly) Allar, Holly (Michael) Beehn, Lynette (Mark) Andreason, Heidi Purcell, Matt (Karen) Bloom, Dan (Shannon) Bloom, Andrea Bloom, Derrick Hinkelmann and Devani Hinkelmann; eight great-grandchildren, Ethan, Clara, Ella, Grant, Noah, Nash, Owen and Kolton; and one sister, Erna Saibold of Marshfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert, on May 7, 1997; one great-grandchild, Gabriel Beehn; and one sister, Vera Drescher.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 201 N. West St., Loyal WI 54446, in Marie's memory.
