OWEN --
Douglas "Dooger" C. Peterson, 67, town of Holway, died Tuesday,
Nov. 24, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Memorial
services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hemer Funeral Home,
Medford, where full military honors will be performed by the
Medford Area Military Honors Team.
Visitation
will be Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of
services.
Douglas was
born March 6, 1942, at Kiester, Minn., to Carlyle V. and Ardis
Peterson. He was united in marriage Oct. 21, 1983, at United Church
of Christ in Medford to Jane A. Weber.
He was a
Para Rescuer in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was
awarded three Purple Hearts, the Green Beret and was honorably
discharged. He was an engineer at Hurd's in Medford for five years,
then worked in maintenance at Phillip's Plastics in Medford until
his retirement in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Jane A. Peterson of Owen; brothers and sisters, Robert (Pat) Peterson, Susan (Richard) Scott, Sarah (Larry) Anderson, Kathy (Bruce) Davison, Warren (Debra) Peterson and Allen (Mary) Peterson.
