Zawadzki, Edward and Regina (? - 23 January
1954)
Funeral services were held Saturday morning,
January 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood for
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zawadzki. He died instantly, and his
wife, the former Regina Pitula, died at 10:30 p.m. at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, five hours after an accident
which occurred three miles north of Greenwood on Highway 73, on
Saturday, January 23, at 5:30 p.m. The Rev. Edward Hartung
officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s
Cemetery.
The
Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post was in charge of the military
rites for Mr. Zawadzki. Pallbearers, all Legion members,
were: Edwin Johnson, Calvin Franz, Paul Acker, Joseph Klune, Alfred
Schwarze and Harry Gordee. Colorbearers were James Plank and
Robert Unger; color guards, Kenneth Speich and Cletus Susa; bugler,
DuWayne Carl; the firing squad, in charge of William Kavanaugh,
included Lawrence Larson, Richard Thompson, John D. Speich,
Theodore Ampe, James Sonderegger and Al
Hemmersbach.
Walter Hohl, commander of the post, assisted by
Robert Carl, folded the flag and presented it to the son Edward
Zawadzki,
Cpl. Eugene Zawadzki arrived here Sunday morning,
January 31, from Korea, 24 hours too late for the funeral of his
parents.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Zawadzki were: John
Zawadzki, Walter Zawadzki, Barney Pogodzinski, Albert Pogodzinski,
Clarence Markee and Gerald Steffen.
Out of town people who attended the services included: Edward Zawadzki, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zawadzki, Mr. and Mrs. John Pitula, Mrs. Sylvia Dudek, Mrs. Elvira Rogalski, Mr. Elenor Gadeski, Mrs. A. Czarkowski, Mrs. V. Dudka, Mr. and Mrs. J. Przerycki, Mr. and Mrs. W. Bober and son, Mr. and Mrs. G. Walls, all of Chicago; Bruno Pitula of Garrison, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zawadzki, Mr. and Mrs. John Zawadzki, Mr. and Mrs. Barney Pogodzinski and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pogodzinski of Owen.
