Loyal, Wis. (Inquest - 6 February
1954)
Eleven witnesses have been subpoenaed to testify
at the inquest called Saturday evening in Loyal into the deaths of
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zawadzki of Greenwood.
They died January 23 following the crash of their
automobile into the rear of a tractor driven by Francis Herr, Town
of Warner, on highway 73, two miles north of
Greenwood.
Among those subpoenaed are Leo Mandal and his
wife, Ann, of Boyd, who were driving behind the Zawadzki car and
witnessed the accident.
Others include: Mr. Herr; Glenn Braatz, a farmer
and neighbor of Mr. Herr, who was approximately five rods from the
scene when the crash took place; his wife Ilma Braatz, who called
the ambulance; Irvin Carl of Greenwood who had fixed the snow plow
on the Herr tractor shortly before the accident; Lorris Dusso,
county traffic officer; Dr. William Olson of Greenwood; Tony Grum,
Greenwood tavern owner; and Arthur Fravert and Francis Brey, who
were in the Grum tavern before the accident
occurred.
The inquest has been called for 7:30 p.m. in the Loyal Municipal building with Coroner John R. Bergemann in charge. Members of the coroner’s jury are: Bert Brown, Fred Coe, Frank Degenhardt, Charles Pachal, Albert Witt and George Zuehlke, all of the Loyal vicinity.
