Davis, Shirley (Marriage –19 May
1954)
Miss Shirley Davis, daughter of Mr. And Mrs.
William Davis of Neillsville, and Louis Kessler, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Kessler of Neillsville, Rt. 1, were married Wednesday,
May 19, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev.
Fr. Peter Leketas performed the double ring
ceremony.
The
bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a dress with a
snugly fitted Basque bodice complemented by long lace sleeves and a
low oval neckline. The floor length skirt of net over satin
was accented with a lace peplum. Her fingertip veil was
fastened by a crown of pearls and she carried a crescent bouquet of
white orchids surrounded by pink roses.
The
maid of honor, Miss Barbara Barton of West Allis, and bridesmaid,
Marilyn Haas, wore floor length dresses of blue and yellow and
carried crescents of pink roses.
Groomsmen were Frank Wasserberger and Charles
Meyers. Harris Schoengarth and Leo Kessler
ushered.
A
wedding dinner was served at the Merchants Hotel at 12:30 to the
immediate families of the couple, their attendants and the
officiating clergyman.
A
reception was held at the American Legion Memorial Hall in the
afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m., with approximately 100 guests
attending.
The
young couple left Wednesday night on a wedding trip and will be at
home at Neillsville Rt. 1 when they return.
The
bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High School and is employed
at the Neillsville Bank. The groom is also a graduate of
Neillsville High and is employed by the Tidy Wood
Products.
Out of town guests attending were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dralle, Greene, Ia.; Albert Mahnke, Greene, Ia.; Mrs. Eddie Miller and family, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Barton and family, West Allis; Mrs. Leo Barton and son, Westchester, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Barton and son, Chicago; Mrs. Therval Erickson, Arpin; Mr. and Mrs. James Erickson and family Wisconsin Rapids; A1/c Marvin A. Klann, Randolph AFB, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Garvin, Tigerton.
