Wittkamp, Bertha (7 March 1866 - 18 May 1954) 
 

Mrs. Bertha Wittkamp, 88, died May 18, 1954, at her home in Cherokee, Ia.  Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22, with the Rev. A. A. Moog officiating.  Burial was in the Sherwood Cemetery. 
 

The body was brought to Neillsville and lay in state at the Georgas Funeral Home until noon Saturday when it was taken to St. John’s Lutheran Church at Sherwood. 
 

Mrs. Wittkamp was born in Germany on March 7, 1866.  She was married in Germany, to Reinhold Wittkamp, after which she and her husband came to America and settled in Chicago.  They farmed in the Sherwood area for over 40 years and for the past 10 years had lived in Iowa. 
 

She is survived by a son, O. A. Wittkamp, Cherokee, Ia., and one daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Ella) Bandy of Los Angeles, Cal. 
 

Deceased members of her family are her husband, who died in November 1942, one daughter and one son. 
 

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sherwood and the Ladies Aid. 
 

Pallbearers were: Joe Fluegel, Paul, Glenn and Lester Schwanebeck, Joe Jacobson and Ralph Scholtz. 
 

The following from out of town attended the rites: A. O. Wittkamp, Cherokee, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Bandy, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Berhoff, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. David Wittkamp, Marshfield.
