Howard, Belle (26 December 1878 - 27 May 1954) 
 

Mrs. Belle Howard, 75, was found dead at her home at 206 W. 5th Street, Neillsville, May 27, 1954.  Funeral services were held Monday, May 31, from the Georgas Funeral Home.  The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Howard was born December 26, 1878, to Albert and Cara (Downer) Holmes at Granton.  She received her elementary education in the Granton schools and after the family moved to Greenwood she attended and graduated from the Greenwood High School.  After finishing school, she stayed at home and assisted her mother with work on the farm. 
 

She was married to Leonard H. Howard March 28, 1900, at Greenwood.  Following their marriage they moved to Neillsville, where Mr. Howard operated an implement business in the building now occupied by the Gaier Hatchery and still known as the old Howard building. 
 

She was a member of Carmi Chapter No. 60 OES. 
 

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. William (Helen) Campman, and one brother, Leslie Holmes, both of Neillsville.  
 

Deceased members of her family are her parents, and her husband, who died in 1941. 
 

Pallbearers were Herbert Smith, Frank Svetlik, Arthur Carl, Bruce Beilfuss, Albert Smith and Dr. Milton C. Rosekrans.  Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Alfred Kleckner, Mrs. Glen Robinson, Mrs. Odin Wang, Mrs. Blanche Zimmerman and Mrs. H. G. Haight. 
 

The following out of town persons attended the services: Mr. and Mrs. J. Carleton Jones and daughter, Cara Jean, Salem; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Howard and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Howard, Granton; Albee Huntzicker, Northfield, Minn., Mrs. Fred Huntzicker, Greenwood; Mrs. Sara Huntzicker, Marshfield; Mrs. Elsie Grinde, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Downer, Granton; Neil Downer, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Grimm, Stratford; James Baker, Granton; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wright, Granton.
