Neillsville senior student Brooke Magnus has been honored as the April Junior Kiwanian.

Magnus was named the Junior Kiwanian for the month by the Neillsville Kiwanis Club April 12. She is the daugher of Kris Magnus.

“As another outstanding recipient in this year’s group being named for the award, Magnus is very deserving of the honor on the basis of her academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement and volunteer activity,” Kiwanian Brent Shoup wrote in an April 14 press release.

Magnus is a member of the National Honor Society, pep band, Spanish Club, 4-H and FFA. She has been active in Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) Youth Group throughout high school. Her strong interest in horses has led to years of involvement and volunteering in numerous clubs and associations, including: Horses and Riders Together (HART), Wisconsin Pony of America Club (WPOAC), International Buckskin Horse Association (IBHA) and Wisconsin Interscholastic Horsemanship Association (WIHA).

Magnus is employed part-time as assistant manager at the American Legion Post 73 in Neillsville, and as a respite provide for the Clark County Health Department.

Following graduation, Magnus plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to major in communication sciences and disorders. She has a goal of obtaining her bachelor’s and master’s degrees for a career in speech pathology in a school setting.

“Our community can take great pride in students such as Brooke Magnus,” Shoup wrote. “The Neillsville Kiwanis Club welcomes this talented, hard-working individual as its Junior Kiwanian, and wishes her continued success in pursuit of her goals.”
