Final rites for Mrs. Peter Goelden, 72, who died at her home Jan. 9, following three and one-half months of illness, were held Monday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church at Abbotsford, with the Rev. Lawrence Faivre officiating. Preceding the 2:00 o’clock services, Herbert Juneau played a 15 minute prelude of organ music and during the services sang "Ivory Palaces," a favorite hymn of Mrs. Goelden, and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul."  
 

Serving as pallbearers for the internment made in the Abbotsford cemetery were George Donnelly, a nephew, of Springfield, Ill., and Morris Mantor, Harold Merwin, L. F. Loucks, Vern Wittlinger, and John Stettler. 
 

Out of town mourners were from Alexandria, La.; Springfield, Batavia, and Oak Park, Ill.; Cornell, Marshfield and Milan, Wisconsin. 
 

Mrs. Goelden was born Jeannette Catherine Lewis, Jan. 3, 1886, in Waverly, Ind. Her marriage to Peter M. Goelden, of Abbotsford, took place in Chicago May 22, 1915 where they made their home until April, 1937, when they moved to their present home, east of Abbotsford.  
 

Mrs. Goelden was very active in the Ladies Fellowship, the Foreign Missionary Society, and was a past president of the Ladies’ Aid Society of the First Congregational church at Berwyn. 
 

Mrs. Goelden, always a willing church worker, was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Abbotsford. She was also a member of the Social Corners Homemakers Club. 
 

Besides her husband, she is survived by their three children, Mrs. Jeannette Prokup, of Batavia, Ill.; A. Lewis (Bud), Abbotsford; and Charles, Alexandria, La. There are seven grand children and a half sister, Mrs. Frances Smith, Springfield, Ill., also surviving.
