Hoesly, Katharine (2 July 1867 - 12 December 1954) 
 

Mrs. Katharine Hoesly, 87, of 411 State Street Neillsville, died Sunday, December 12, at her home.  The body in charge of the Georgas Funeral Home was to be taken at 12:30 Thursday noon (today) from the funeral home to the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, where services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.  The Rev. William Koehler will officiate.  Burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Hoesly was born July 2, 1867 at New Glarus, Wis., to Melchior and Katharine (Leger) Steussy.  She received her education in the schools of New Glarus, where she grew to womanhood.  She was married to Markus Hoesly on October 20, 1885, at New Glarus. The couple moved to Clark County in 1901 and farmed in the Town of Grant until 1913, when they moved to Neillsville.  
 

She is survived by the following eight children: Baltz Hoesly, Granton; Amelia and Ann at home; Mrs. Minnie Kelch, Whitewater, Wis.; John Hoesly, Akron, Ohio; Markus Hoesly, Bloomer, Wis.; Henry Hoesly, Green Bay; Jacob Hoesly, Neillsville; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 
 

She was a charter member of the Women’s Guild of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church since October, 1911, and also was a member of the church and the Diamond Rebekah Lodge No. 64.
