John Walter Lewandowski was born on June 15, 1927, in Chicago, IL, the son of Walter and Stephanie (Kara) Lewandowski.  He was raided and received his education in Chicago.  John then enlisted in the U. Navy and, following his discharge, he moved to Lublin, WI.  John was united in marriage to Evelyn Boehm on October 12, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in the Town of Cassel, rural Marathon Co.  They began their married life living in Lublin before moving to Thorp.  In 1959, they purchased a farm in the Town of Withee.  In addition to farming, John also worked as a mechanic at O-W Motors in Withee, and at Teledyne Company in Owen.  Following his retirement from Teledyne, he worked part time for Thorp Equipment until 2007, at which time he also sold the farm and moved into Thorp.

He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church and its Holy name Society, and Abramowicz, Kacmarczyk, and Cwikla American Legion Post #547 in Lublin.  John and Evelyn bowled for many years in the Satruday Night Ma & Pa League in Thorp.  He enjoyed spending time at the casino, hunting, polka dancing, and especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Evelyn, of Thorp; one son, Thomas (Lynn) Lewandowski of Eau Claire; two daughters: Lynn (Ron) Klovas of Thorp, and Shari (Val) Lisiecki of Marshfield; one son-in-law, Duane Ketterhagen of Stanley; eight grandchildren: Mandy Hauser, Craig Lewandowski, Kari Bielecki, Ryan Klovas, Kristy, Chad and Katie Ketterhagen, and Kendall Lisiecki; four great-grandchildren: Gracie and Charlie Hauser, and Raeleigh and Delaney Lewandowski; one brother-in-law, Leonard Nowak of Rice Lake; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
