Florence M. Eberhardt, 89, of Neillsville died
Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at St. Joseph’ Hospital in
Marshfield.
Florence Marie (Main) Eberhardt was born Oct. 11,
1920, the daughter of Charles W. and Mabel Main in Blue River
Township, IN. She graduated from Westland High School as
salutatorian of her class in 1938. She worked for many years
at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. She was united in
marriage to Gerald R. Eberhardt Oct. 21, 1961, in Oaklandon,
IN. They moved to Neillsville, where she enjoyed being a
housewife and raising her family and eventually worked as a
nurse’s aide at Memorial Nursing Home. She also
volunteered at the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop.
Florence was a member of the Deutscher Club of Clark County.
Her main goal in life was tending to and pleasing
others.
Florence is survived by three children, Ruth
(Robert) Foti of West Allis, James (Sally) Bird of Neillsville and
Russell W. (Debbie) Bird Jr. of Summerfield, NC; seven
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is further
survived by a brother, Charles (Marge) Main of Plainfield, IN; two
brothers-in-law, Roland Eberhardt of Eugene, OR, and Alvin (Mary)
Eberhardt of Leona; and many nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant son;
two brothers; three sisters; a brother-in-law; and two
sisters-in-law.
Funeral services for Florence were held at 11
a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at the Pine Valley Zion Lutheran
Church in Neillsville. Pastor Keith Lueneburg officiated.
Virginia Karnitz, organist, provided music. Burial was in the
Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8
p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and
Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the
church.
Serving as Casketbearers were: Don Elmhorst, Bob
Kalsow, Dennis Sischo, Terry Sischo, Chad Foti and Michelle
Foti.
