Benzschawel, Mary Ann (15 FEB 1955)

Mary Ann Benzschawel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Benzschawel of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Larry Spaeth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Spaeth of Boyd, were united in marriage by Rev. Arnold M. Muckerheide in a double ring ceremony at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at Thorp, Wis., at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 15th, 1955.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a beautiful gown fashioned with a skirt of net with four panels of Chantilly lace over satin, a fitted bodice of lace adorned with sequins which also extended down the front panel of the skirt.  Her fingertip veil was secured to a seed pearl headpiece and she carried a heart shaped bouquet of orchids surrounded by sweet peas fastened with streamers.

The maid of honor, Dorothy Slowiak, a friend of the bride, was gowned in a lovely strapless dress of orchid net over satin with a brocaded lace jacket and her nose gay heart shaped bouquet was of red and white carnations.

The bridesmaids, Barbara Benzschawel, sister of the bride, and Leone Spaeth, sister of the groom, wore gowns of lime green fashioned identically to that of the maid of honor, and their bouquets likewise.

The groom was attended by William Micke Jr. of Stanley, a cousin of the bride, and Donald Spaeth of Boyd, brother of the groom, and the ushers being Bernard Benzschawel of Boyd, brother of the bride, and Sylvester Spaeth of Boyd, brother of the groom.

St. Bernard’s Junior Choir furnished the music for this occasion.

A wedding dinner was served for 50 guests and a reception and a dance held at St. Hedwig’s Quonset Ballroom.

The bride’s mother attended the wedding dressed in a violet blue and the groom’s mother wearing a blue print.  Their corsages were of red roses and white carnations.

The happy couple will resided south of Boyd where the groom is engaged in farming.  The bride is a graduate of the Thorp schools and has been employed at the Acme Steel Co.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were from Madison, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Eau Claire, Boyd, Stanley and Stevens Point.
